There is one application " Screenshot It" for Android. This application captures the screen shot.

Alternatively download drivers of the device like  Samsung, Htc or Motorola in the PC and connect the device using USB cable. In the eclipse or ddms there is an option " device" where your attached device will be visible and click on "Screen capture" option to capture and save the screen shot

  • Hi Alternate is 'Vscreenshot' application

For blackberry install the blackberry device manager and JL_Cmder software.

  • Thanks, Suresh. i will try with this and update you..

  • for this you need to make sure your Android SDK is updated with latest release or else you can download the drivers from http://developer.android.com/sdk/win-usb.html, then try to install the drivers.

    Hope this helps.

For android devices, you can take the screenshots using DDMS tool only when the required drivers gets installed of that particular mobile device. I always having problems installing drivers of Samsung Google Nexus Android phone (ver 2.1). For this device, I was not able to locate the drivers online.... please let me know if somebody successfully done the installation of the driver of this device or having faced such kind of issue with any other device....

  • For Android, the DDMS tool that comes bundled with the SDK itself will take screenshots.

If you want to take a screenshot during an automation run, it is still not possible witn tools like Robotium (can't imagine why)

So in case of a running java program (as with Robotium), we can have a custom method that will create a bitmap image of the current screen, compress it and store it in a folder.

  • if u want to capture the image from any emulator(BB,Iphone,Andriod or Windows), then by using a open source tool called "Green shot" which is open source free tool. By using this we can capture any screen.
