  • Looking good

  • Thanks Akash for valuable info abt field testing.......but my client asks for a document in which i have to define the process to do field testing in short test cases......so is there any specific test scenarios or i can write like that u mentioned above.....?

Emulate various real network conditions like bandwidth fluctuation and delay variation to quantify user experience under the field testing conditions.

Also got some new for the same like,

    • Connectivity testing: Application functionality testing under different network coverage conditions (loss of connectivity).
    • Varying Bandwidth testing: Application functionality testing by varying bandwidth.
    • Data loss testing: Application testing under partial data loss and targeted data loss (loss of important data) testing.
    • Ability to test application's behavior and performance when mobile device switches from one type of network to another type of network e.g. 3G to EDGE or 3G to WLAN.
    • Ability to test application against network traces collected from live network environment.
    • Detailed statistics of application traffic under different network conditions captured by Infosys WindTunnel can be used as input for network capacity planning.

  • Thanks guys......

  • Thanks All:), this is something new for me, Never heard of this previously.
  • "AMCA Publication 203 is a general purpose guide
for the measurement of fan performance." ........@Akash it seems this pdf (field testing) is for "Fan" :) :) We r looking for mobile field testing  :)

  • txs anurag ...

Please find another doc for the same ...

    Field Testing Overview.pdf

  • Just to have more details about Laboratory and Field Testing I am attaching a document here.

"Usability Testing of Mobile Applications: A Comparison between Laboratory and Field Testing"

Usability Testing of Mobile Applications-A Comparison between Labor...

  • @Sowjanya  Very important inputs...Thaks for sharing!!!!

@Anurag- Laboratory testing is one of the approach to test the usability of the mobile devices. Interruptions, movement, noise, multitasking etc., that could affect user performance are not prsent in laboratory tests. These special conditions can be taken care in Field testing.
